Physical endeavours!

Congratulations to James Doble (3W) who, after two weeks trialling with Exeter City Football Club, has been accepted into the Junior team.  He is one of the youngest players to have been invited to join.

Charlie Williams, Joe Haward and Joshua Young performed brilliantly in the recent Devon Junior Chess Tournament.  In the U9 Challengers, Charlie came 1st with 6/6 and Joe equal 2nd with 2.5/6. In the U9 main section, Josh won 3/6 matches.

Some of our Year 8 boys have been selected for the East Devon U13 Rugby squad after recent tough trials.  Our congratulations go to Callum Gore, George Jarman, Tom Michelmore, Ben Pritchard, Joe Pyne, Adam Tanner, Tim Wright.  Aaron Dobie is also to be congratulated after securing his place in the West Devon Rugby Squad.

The triathlon earlier this term raised a fantastic £693 which was put towards the costs of the sports tour to Jersey.  Many thanks to all the children's sponsors.

Tom Michelmore (Y8) put his best wetsuit on and swam across the estuary one blustery Saturday morning to raise funds for Water Aid (appropriately!).  He set off from Star Cross just as the tide was about to turn and arrived safely back at home just 48 minutes later.  Over £200 was raised and Tom would like to thank all those who sponsored him and his family and friends for turning up to support him on the day.

Three of our keen pony riders entered a Pony Tetrathlon in October.  Millie Pring (Y6), Elle Slade (Y3) and Amy Wright (Y5) competed in the two-day event that consisted of pistol shooting, swimming, running and riding a cross-country course.  Millie and Elle came 2nd with Amy's team 3rd.  Elle picked up 2nd Individual and the furthest swim and Amy was award 6th place in the individual with all of the girls achieving clear cross-country rounds.
