A very warm welcome to St Peter’s Prep School in Lympstone, Devon. St Peter’s is set in 28 acres of beautiful countryside with stunning views over the Exe Estuary. A traditional, yet progressive prep school for children aged 3 up to 13.
Our three Cs of Courtesy, Consideration and Common Sense are at the heart of what we do. The children’s behaviour is excellent and the school produces warm, confident and impressive young people.
We are proud of our independence which leads us to placing children in the right senior schools from a huge range.
In the extensive grounds of our school, we have:
- 2 adventure playgrounds
- a swimming pool
- astro for hockey, tennis and netball
- 4 rugby pitches
- 2 cricket pitches
- our own woodland, pond and forest school
St Peter’s pupils benefit from outstanding teaching in small class sizes where children of all abilities have the individual attention they need to enable exceptional achievement and challenge.
Year 8 children gain 100% success rate of entry to their chosen senior schools and many leave us with academic scholarships or with scholarships in art, music, sport or drama.
St Peter’s is extremely well located. Half an hour from Exeter (and it is possible to travel by train from Lympstone Village to London in under 3 hours, or you can fly from Exeter Airport), yet 10 minutes from the beach and close to Dartmoor. Your children can benefit from the freedom of growing up in this area of outstanding natural beauty, as well as learning to horse ride, sail, kayak or ringo on the Estuary as part of our Friday afternoon activity programme. Nursery children enjoy both our own forest school and beach school.
Wrap around care from 08:00 to 18:00 is included in the fees to allow flexibility for working parents. There is a boarding programme during the week for children in our prep school to be able to experience the independence of boarding.
We feed to a huge range of senior schools and are extremely proud of our independence which means that we place children in the right school for them for their senior years. This may be boarding, day, national or local.
We aim to broaden horizons to ensure maximum choice and flexibility and we have an extremely high rate of success. Please click here to see senior schools our children have gone on to over the past 5 years.
We will be able to prepare your child for entry into the best possible senior schools, whether they be local, national, day or boarding. We don’t believe in pigeon-holing children at 3 until 18 and feel that a transitional change is hugely beneficial at the end of their primary years when children are ‘ready’ for the next stage.
Prospective pupils and parents are welcome to visit at any time. Please call 01395 280335 to make an appointment for a tour and meet our Head, Mrs Charlotte Johnston.
