7 Easter-themed Activities Near St Peter’s

With the Easter holidays fast-approaching, many families will be in search of seasonal-inspired activities to keep the children and their abundance of energy occupied during their time off school. Here at St Peter’s, we’ve decided to make a list of some of the best Easter-inspired activities that are happening at various local attractions to help you decide where to take the little ones over the next few weeks. Whether your child is a pupil at our independent pre-school in Devon, slightly older or a mix of ages, there’s something for everyone at each and every event. We have included opening times and locations for each activity, but please contact the various attractions if you have any further questions.

Easter Holiday Family Fun – World of Country Life

6th– 22ndApril 2019. Monday – Sunday, 10am – 5pm.

On our doorstep in Exmouth, Country Life provides a full programme of activities every day over the Easter period, from taking a goat for a walk to cheering on your favourite ferret at the Ferret Racing Total Wipeout. Over Easter weekend there will be special arts and crafts sessions and an Easter Egg hunt which children of all ages can get involved with – including a tasty treat for a prize upon completion. Alongside the Easter festivities there’s also lots of outdoor play areas to keep little ones entertained as well as an opportunity for learning at the Museum of Farming which features some of the vehicles used in Downton Abbey!

 

Woolly Week – Powderham Castle

8th – 22ndApril 2019. Sunday – Friday, 10am-5pm.

A fantastic sheep show that captures the hearts of all who see it is coming to Powderham Castle just in time for your Easter holidays. From fascinating sheering demonstrations and an entertaining commentary introducing each of the sheep to the iconic Sheep Show Hustle, it’s sure to be a fun day out for both children and adults alike. You also have the opportunity to visit the walled garden where a selection of adorable lambs are waiting to say hello before embarking upon an Easter-themed trail that runs through the grounds of the castle. All participation is included in your entry ticket, so if you’ve been wanting to visit for a while, there’s no better time to do so!

 

Mega Easter Event plus Meet Peter Rabbit – Crealy Theme Park & Resort

15thApril – 22ndApril 2019. Monday – Sunday 10am – 5.30pm.

This family favourite local attraction provides access to all rides this Easter as well as a park-wide Easter egg hunt! The self-proclaimed M’egg’a Easter egg hunt involves you searching and finding all the magical eggs on your map, ticking off the ones you have found as you go, before completing the hunt and claiming your prize. Between the 18thand the 22ndof April, Peter Rabbit himself will be making an appearance on the Piazza Stage at regular intervals throughout the day which is sure to delight the younger children. What’s more is, you’ll be able to validate your admission so that it can be used for the next six days, absolutely free!

Exeter Chiefs – Sandy Park

13thApril, 3pm. 27thApril, 2pm. 18thMay, 4pm 2019.

Exeter Chiefs are running away with the table this season and have three very exciting, crucial upcoming games. The Chiefs have worked hard to make their ground a nice place to be for fans, young and old, making it a fantastic family day out to support your local team. Watch them take on the Wasps, Harlequins or the Northampton Saints in what could be your child’s first competitive sports fixture. This is perfect for rugby enthusiasts or perhaps a great way to introduce a younger child to the game. Up the Chiefs!

 

Superhero Family Fun Day, Exeter Racecourse

16thApril, 12.05pm

Those who fancy a bit of a flutter this Easter, check out Exeter Racecourse and their very first Super Hero Family Day on April 16th. Enjoy an action-packed day including running races, jockey Q&A sessions and behind-the-scenes tours, alongside lots of superhero themed entertainment. Children will have the chance to meet their favourite Superhero, get their face-painted like a hero of their choice and attempt the ultimate Superhero high ropes course. There will be prizes awarded for the best-dressed superhero and an Easter egg for the first 250 children through the gates, so be sure to get there on time to claim your tasty treat.

 

Easter Egg Hunt, Donkey Sanctuary

6th– 22ndApril 2019. Monday to Sunday, 9am – 5pm.

The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth is celebrating 50 years of helping donkeys and mules in need with a special Easter adventure. You’ll follow a carefully crafted trail around the sanctuary finding Easter eggs and learning all about some of the most iconic donkeys that have come to call this place home. Admission is free to the sanctuary and the Easter Egg hunt costs just £3 per child.

Easter Bonnets

Pom Pom Bunny Headband & Easter Pottery Painting, Whatever the Weather Pottery

Wednesday 10thApril 2019, 2pm – 4pm

Children aged over five can get creative this Easter, making bunny headbands and painting Easter-themed pottery for the afternoon. Based in Chudleigh, make sure you pre-book places to avoid disappointment on the day and children are sure to enjoy spending several hours on their innovative creations.
