Seven Christmas Activities to Do this Winter!

Christmas is a fantastic time for everyone to get together and enjoy some activities! It’s cold and wet outside, and Jack Frost is slowly but surely making an appearance across our windscreens, which means it’s time to either stay inside snug, or wrap up warm for some festivities. In this piece we will give you some great ideas for what Christmas activities you can do this winter!

Decorate a Gingerbread House

Diving headfirst into the Christmas spirit means decorating your very own gingerbread house. You can either make one yourself as another fun activity or get your hands on a pre-made one you can assemble at home. Once the pieces resemble a house, lots of fun can be had! The whole family can decorate the gingerbread house together and you can use all kinds of edible treats to decorate it. Think coloured icing, edible silver balls, jelly diamonds, chocolate chips, you name it. We won’t tell if you pinch a sweet while the children aren’t looking!

Start a New Family Tradition

Starting your own Christmas traditions can bring something really special to your Christmas, and the best thing about it is you and your family can pick anything you want! It might be making hot chocolates on Christmas Eve, finding the funniest bauble or picking the largest Christmas tree for the front room! Whatever you decide to do, you are sure to enjoy it every year for years to come.

Set Up a Christmas Photo Booth

In this day and age, almost everything gets snapped on a camera, which is brilliant for making memories. Photo booth props are so popular, which means you can get your hands on all kinds of designs and Christmas is no exception. From Santa hats, to antlers and Santa’s beards, there will be something you will want to use as a prop! For extra festive fun, why not make your own props? All the family can get involved and you could even have a competition to see who makes the funniest!

See Some Christmas Lights

Going to see some Christmas lights is almost always a magical experience. Whether you go and gaze at the professional lights in town or take a walk around the neighbourhood to see how everyone’s decorated their house and garden, there’s nothing quite like going to see Christmas lights to get you feeling the Christmas spirit!Christmas lights in the street

Build a Snowman

A classic (and a classic for a reason): building a snowman is one of the ultimate Christmas winter activities you can do. Wait until the ground is covered with fresh fluffy white snow and then get to work on making your snow masterpiece. It doesn’t have to be a snowman; you can create whatever snow sculpture you would like!

Make Christmas Decorations

There is nothing quite like making Christmas decorations to get you in the spirit. Making Christmas decorations is such a creative, fun way to spend time as a family. There are endless options for making decorations and you can hang them anywhere, such as your tree or around the house. Homemade decorations also make a lovely gift for others, so why not sit down and make some presents for your friends and family? Don’t forget to grab yourself a hot chocolate and some mince pies to snack on whilst you make them!

Make a Christmas Playlist

Nothing brings everyone together quite like music! Why not create your own family playlist together, with everyone picking their favourite Christmas songs. Listen to the playlist whilst you eat your Christmas dinner, make your decorations or any other Christmas actives you all get up to, to ensure you get right into the Christmas spirit.
