What Happens on a St Peter’s Prep Open Day?

Our St Peter’s Prep open days are the perfect way to experience what education as a St Peter’s Prep pupil is like, while exploring our beautiful school grounds. We have two types of open days for you to gain an informed understanding of our school and the abundant opportunities available to current and potential pupils. Both our options provide slightly different experiences, and are also on different days of the week. Our open days offer a thoughtful and insightful experience, with our teachers and administration team being on hand to answer any of your queries. Below we will discuss each option.

First Option: once a year on a Saturday Morning

10:00 to 12:00

Available on the weekend, this open day is ideal for those parents who work throughout the week. As the Open Day is at a weekend in the Autumn term, teachers will not be leading classes with children. Instead, our teachers will be on hand to discuss the school with prospective parents.

The day will begin with an enlightening tour of the school by our very own Year 8 St Peter’s Prep pupils. You can view our lovely boarding accommodation, our performing arts facilities and, of course, the general grounds of the school. Our incredible 28-acre site is home to some of the best sports facilities, including a heated outdoor swimming pool, various rugby, football and cricket pitches, a sports hall, squash court and AstroTurf with tennis courts. A tour with the Year 8s allows you to ask questions about their experience of the school themselves. We believe this is the best way to gain a thorough insight into the reality of being accepted as a St Peter’s Prep pupil.

At the end of the tour, complimentary tea, coffee, cake and juice will be available in our Dining Hall. This is the perfect opportunity to talk to the admissions team, Head and other staff members about the school and gain answers to any questions you may have.

To attend this Open Day, we advise contacting our Director of Admissions & Marketing, Mrs Rachel Jupp. Her details are available at the bottom of this article. However, turning up on the day is also recommended if a booking has not been made in advance.

Second Option: School in Action

Thursday mornings each term

If you would prefer to also experience St Peter’s Prep in the midst of a school day, this open day may be the perfect option for you. This open day is less angled towards discussion with students and staff, but provides an opportunity to witness the teaching experience that takes place at St Peter’s Prep.

If you head to the main reception, from the Visitor Car Park, you will be guided to the Research and Learning hub (the Library). Here you will be greeted by the Head and Rachel Jupp. A similar tour will commence by our Year 8s; however, the aim will be to observe teacher and pupil interaction throughout the morning. At the end of the day, refreshments will be served in the Library, and here you can ask the senior leadership team and the Admissions team any questions.

Similar to the other open day, we recommend contacting our Director of Admissions & Marketing, Mrs Rachel Jupp to book onto the School in Action event. It is also possible to turn up on the day.

Our next School in Action is on Thursday 20 April 2023.
