Year 6 Grammar and Public School Success

St Peter’s Preparatory School is non-selective yet, earlier this academic year, six of our Year 6 pupils successfully passed grammar school entrance examinations, with three obtaining places at Colyton Grammar School, two passing the exam for Torquay Boys’ Grammar School and one gaining a place at Torquay Girls’ Grammar School. Head, Mrs Charlotte Johnston, comments: “We are delighted that six of our pupils have got into grammar school, that two more Year 6s passed the entrance exam for Exeter School and thrilled that one of our Year 6 boys has secured an A list place to Eton in 2020.”

This builds on the last academic year’s grammar school entrance exam achievements where four of our children passed the entrance examination to Colyton Grammar School and one to Torquay Boys’ Grammar School.

As the Good Schools Guide said of St Peter’s in January 2018: “It’s the teachers here who are the stars of the show. We were astonished by the quality of those we met in this tucked-away corner of Devon, buried in greenery – fired up, very bright, very able. It is they, more than anything else, that make this school remarkable and explain why the children are working up to a year, some of them two years, above their level.”
