Young performers achieve top credits


Freddie House (Y5) recited a poem called ‘Unstable Mabel’ and came third with 86%, giving him a Distinction.  In addition, earlier this month, Freddie took his Speech and Drama ‘Silver’ exam and passed with Distinction. Freddie also entered the Solo Drama Section and gained 84%, and was awarded Distinction.

Tim Phillips (Y7) took part in the Solo Mime section and gained 90%, awarding him a pass with Honours. Like Freddie, Tim took part in the Solo Acting section, gaining 89% and awarded 1st in his Class.  After this success, Tim was invited to perform again at the Gala Concert on Saturday, 24 March.  At this event, he was awarded the Wilkinson Grant Trophy for the Most Promising Overall  Competitor in this  year's Speech and Drama Classes for the entire Festival.

Rebecca Thornton (Y6) won first prize in the most Original Poetry section and, as a result, was invited to attend the Gala Concert on Saturday, 24 March where she received the cup for Most Original Composition for the entire festival. Rebecca also won 3rd prize in the Prose Reading, and is awaiting exam results of the Intermediate Poetry class.
