125 Service of Thanksgiving at Exeter Cathedral
On Thursday, 20 September, we celebrated our 125th birthday. To
commemorate this special event, we took over Exeter Cathedral, invited
some guests, who, along with pupils former and current, staff and
parents, participated in a special service of Thanksgiving.
The St Peter's Chamber Choir were in fine voice throughout the service and the Cathedral was full. The school was remembered fondly by a number of former and current staff and pupils, who stood up to speak.
Head of School, Lucy Parsons, had this to say:
"St Peter’s is very good at making everyone feel welcome, including
myself. On my first day I was extremely nervous but by the end of the day I was
sure that I was going to love it here, and I have. Last year, my classmates and I went to Normandy, in France. The trip turned out to be
one of my most outstanding learning experiences as well as being one of my most
treasured times at St Peter’s.
We are all familiar with a famous Brand of Baked Beans which boasts 57 varieties;
well St Peter’s offers more activity! We will be staying in a youth hostel and
surfing in Cornwall
this weekend. In a few weeks' time we will have the enormous privilege of
singing in St Peter’s Basilica, in Rome and last year Mr and Mrs Williams very bravely accepted our request to cook them
dinner, in their house. This brought a totally new meaning to Hells Kitchen!
Remarkably we all live to tell the tale.
125 years is a long time, Even Mr. Pritchard hasn’t been at the school
that long, and hundreds of pupils have been lucky enough to have been touched
by the St Peter’s magic
I am very sad to be leaving at the end of this year and looking back on
my years here, I have had such fun, made such good friends and hopefully
learned a little bit along the way! Being chosen as head of school was just the
icing on the cake. Here’s to the next
125 years".
