The savvy pupils
in Year 7 are one step ahead of Gordon Brown!
For the past term, they have been working on a textiles project during
Design & Technology lessons. The aim
was to create a company that manufactured bags to promote the message of
recycling. Working as a team, they
created a logo and slogan that have now been screen printed onto the bags by
the pupils, who worked in small groups.
Other pupils worked on tasks such as making labels, ironing, bag
preparation and quality control. They
worked together as a production line to produce the finished bags. Finally they worked out the cost price for
making and marketing the bags in order to sell them at a profit.
The children have been selling these stylish, 100%
calico bags at school to pupils, parents and staff for £2.00 each and any funds raised will be put towards
the school’s Environmental Fund for the benefit of all pupils. Bags have sold like hotcakes and pupils are under pressure to make more!
