For New Parents: How the Children Learn: Junior School
Welcome from the Head of Junior School

Welcome to the part of the website that will tell you what goes on in the Junior School at St Peter's School.

What an exciting place it is!  Catering for children from seven to nine years of age, the Junior School is a hive of activity and fun.  We have a lovely, self-contained Junior department, with its own play area and equipment.

There are two classes in each year group and we take a maximum of 20 children in each class.

Our aim is for the children to learn in an environment that is safe, stimulating and fun.  We stress the need for good manners, consideration for others and helpfulness.  Out ethos is based of the 'It's Good to be Green' behaviour management policy.  By instilling these Golden Rules into the children, we believe we will be well on the way to producing children who have respect for others, a willingness to help and an awareness of the responsibility they have for their own actions.  All of this is developed in a firm, but supportive atmosphere where children can develop self-confidence and a love of learning.

Information about the range and balance of the curriculum can be found in the 'How the Children Learn' section of the website.  All children are given individual targets which are reviewed each term.

Children needing to stay after school are catered for in our Late Stayers Prep Sessions.

Continuity of staff ensures that all the children and their families are well known to us and we pride ourselves on our welcoming family atmosphere - something that is often commented on by visitors to the school.

Why not come and experience it for yourselves?  I would love to show you around.
