For New Pupils: Food
School Food
The food at St Peter's is really scrummy.  You get a choice between the hot meal of the day, which includes a meat and vegetarian option, or a selection of salad items from the salad bar.  This includes baked potatoes, cold meats and cheese.

There is usually a hot pudding on offer, but you may choose a healthier alternative like fruit or a yoghurt.

Whilst we are conscious of you eating a healthy and nutrionally balanced diet, we also realise that food has to look and taste good.  We also appreciate that it is sometimes OK to eat foods that are not considered to be particularly healthy.  However, our approach is all things in moderation.

What you will not find at St Peter's are turkey twizzlers or any other type of processed food that comes from who knows where.  What you will find is good quality meat and fish and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables every day.

At lunchtime, you will go into lunch with the other children in your year group and there will be members of staff sitting at the table with you.  They will encourage you to try new things, and that's all that we ask.  That you try them once to see if you like it.  You'd be surprised what we have managed to get people to eat here over the last couple of years through persistence!

There are four weeks of menus.  When we get back to week 1, we look at each day again and decided if we need to make any changes.  These usually take into account the time of year so that we can make the best of locally grown produce, and whether we need lighter meals.

In addition to the daily hot choices, one of which is always vegetarian, there is a full and varied salad bar, which includes jacket potatoes and fillings.

The puddings include fresh fruit and yogurt and a daily "special" - something like black cherry cheesecake or chocolate sponge & custard.
